What Price?

What price dignity
But to surrender all concern;
And be as the dead wood
You would whittle into pegs and wedges.

Turn the world
To fit your cruel,
Narrow eyes
And cold, emboldened heart.

What price respect
Unless to tender put,
For whom does it
Belong to any more,
I parted with my stake the day
You swanned in,
Full to beaming with anxiety.

What price
Appeasement to the
Creatures of deadweight?
What price Society
When wickedness
Sits comfortable inside intent;
Where deeds of State oppression
Are well meant?
