Half Life

Do not reach the end
Of yet another day
And say
It was enough
To merely hold your demons
Just at bay,
For that is
Half a life you’re living –
Sheer existence, holding sway.

Give breath
To passion’s spark
And hearken to
That discontented
Voice inside
That bids you rise,
For sometimes,
Don’t you ever dare to think:
A shorter life is worth the risk
To be the fullness of its gift?

  1. True, but………beware the endless turmoil of the quest……mind and body at behest…..of demons bent on poisoning the best………..of life’s rare tranquil strands of rest……..and risk what sanity is left
