Half Life

Do not reach the end
Of yet another day
And say
It was enough
To merely hold your demons
Just at bay,
For that is
Half a life you’re living –
Mere existence, holding sway.

Give breath
To passion’s spark
And hearken to
That discontented
Voice inside
That bids you rise,
For sometimes,
Don’t you ever dare to think:
A shorter life is worth the risk
To be the fullness of its gift?
